Driving Traffic To Your Site

Getting traffic to your site in order to promote your business is the most important step if you want to make money. It doesn't matter how good your product is, or how brilliant the payplan of your business - if nobody knows about it, you aren't going to make any money!

So the first thing you need to do is actually send visitors to your site. But you want them to be targeted (already interested)towards what you are selling. There is zero results to be had from sending a million vegetarians to a site that lists the best steakhouses in your area!

So you need to be sure that you target your marketing towards people who are interested in what you are offering. If you're offering information on Network Marketing then network marketers are your best target market.

There are literally dozens of ways to get traffic to your site. But for now, I'll concentrate on the FREE sources. After all, if you can get it for free, why pay?

Traffic Exchanges

Traffic exchanges can work really well if you know what you are doing. But you need to remember a couple of very important things.

1 - you only have a limited amount of time on a traffic exchange to grab the visitor's attention. For this reason your website needs to load quickly and be as eye catching and unique as possible. 2 - the common mistake made by most users of traffic exchanges is to advertise their own site and start driving visitors there. Later on, this is fine. But the first thing you need to do is promote other traffic exchanges. And before you start screaming about why you would want to waste your hard earned credits on promoting another traffic exchange rather than your own site, let me explain.

Traffic exchanges will give you credits for surfing other user's sites. They will also give you credits based upon your referrals surfing activities. The number of credits given for referrals varies from exchange to exchange so you will need to check out each one.

Now, unless you plan to spend the rest of your life surfing the exchanges you will never generate enough credits to get a viable amount of traffic to your own site. So you need to leverage the power of others. By referring other people, you will then be able to use credits that they generate for you. The more referrals you get to each exchange the less surfing you have to do yourself.

Once your referrals are earning you enough credits to send traffic to your own site, then you can stop promoting the Traffic Exchange, though I recommend you continue to use at least some of your credits towards this.

Remember, the people using traffic exchanges are not really interested in your business. They are surfing for credits to send traffic to their own website. That means they are interested in using traffic exchanges, which means they are interested in learning about other traffic exchanges, which means they are more likely to sign up! Get the picture?

Targeted traffic!

I've included a few links to quality Traffic Exchanges that you can check out for yourself. But remember to use them correctly!

Trafficera is relatively new and also combines the ability to network socially with other users. You can create your own groups and teams to help with earning credits.

Traffic Swarm is probably the biggest traffic exchange and certainly the most widely used. It utilises small ads that users have to click. Very useful as a sideline to test ads that you may later want to use on a paid ppc basis such as Google adwords.

Hitbowl is very new and I have found this to be highly responsive. Not too many members yet so the the opportunity to refer others and benefit from their activity is still very high.
